The council opened a public hearing July 8 on a request to change zoning from Neighborhood Services to Community Retail with a Special Use Permit to allow a motor-fueling station with a convenience store and a drive-through at 1400 Country Club Road (zoning case 2025-06).
Planning staff told the council the applicant requested a postponement. "The applicant has asked to table this item until the August 26 meeting," Planning staff said, noting the applicant is reorganizing their project team and asked for additional time.
No members of the public stepped forward to speak during the public hearing. Councilman Dave Strang moved to table the item to the Aug. 26 meeting; Councilman David R. Duke seconded. The motion carried 6–0.
Why it matters: The request would allow a fueling station and drive-through restaurant on a 1.056-acre parcel at 1400 Country Club Road; tabling delays council consideration while the applicant completes application materials and team changes.
What happened next: The public hearing was opened and closed with no speakers; council approved a motion to table the item to Aug. 26, 2025.
Looking ahead: The applicant told staff it would return on Aug. 26; council and staff noted that state timing rules on plats may apply if a plat is required.
