Kanarraville staff reported several operational and community items at the June 19 town board meeting, including a planned chip seal of Main Street, changes to July 4 festivities, and resident concerns about a long-term trailer parked at the corner of Main Street and 200 West.
Chip sealing and road work: Board members said the county will chip-seal Main Street (including State Route 91 segments) in the coming weeks with the town paying for materials while the county furnished labor. Staff said the work will include line repainting.
July 4 event: Staff previewed the town’s July 4 plans: a menu change (smoked pork, Dutch-oven potatoes, homemade coleslaw, and sheet cake), reduced reliance on high-power equipment after prior electrical problems, and an emphasis on donations rather than per-plate charges; payment options will include Venmo, cash and credit.
Trailer on Main & 200 West: Several residents, including a board member speaking during announcements, raised concerns about a trailer parked at the corner of Main Street and 200 West. Planning staff said such units require an additional use permit when used as a residence and may be authorized for up to one year only when tied to building a home. Staff asked that residents notify planning if the trailer remains beyond allowable limits.
Other community items: Staff reported a donor sign and plaques for the parking lot will be installed soon and that the town added a Stoney’s chip-seal expense to the district budget. The fire chief completed hydrant-flow testing and provided a list of problem hydrants for repair planning.
No formal votes were required for these operational items; the board recorded the reports and approved routine monthly expenditures earlier in the meeting.
