San Ramon council appoints four to Parks and Community Services Commission; two placed on wait list

Council members said they weighed community engagement, knowledge of the city’s parks, the Parks, Trails, Open Space and Recreation Master Plan and demonstrated willingness to serve in the council-appointed role when choosing finalists.
Council members and staff noted that continuity and a mix of experience and fresh perspectives were priorities. Several interviewees were current or former commissioners or advisory-committee members and referenced involvement with local park projects, arts programming and recent facility openings such as a cricket pitch at Quail Run.
The council also discussed the process of naming wait-listed alternates, saying the practice helps the city respond more quickly to vacancies that may occur within the first year. Council members said the wait list will be used to fill any unforeseen vacancies before re-opening the full public appointment process.
Appointees will be notified by the City Clerk’s office, and the council said staff will follow up with orientation and scheduling details. The council did not make implementation details or effective dates public during the meeting.
