The Building Standards Board voted July 3 to demolish a deteriorated accessory structure at 2535 Schley Avenue after staff presented evidence of rot, a large roof hole and repeated vagrant activity.
Code enforcement supervisor Alyssa Valdez presented photographs showing missing siding, rotted wooden members, a large hole in the metal roof and interior debris that limited a full interior assessment. Valdez said the main house had been demolished in June 2024 after a major fire and that the accessory shed remained. She said notices had been mailed and posted as required and that staff had previously abated the property in August 2024 with a recorded abatement cost of $3,632.
Valdez recommended demolition, saying the shed’s sill plates and anchor bolts were weathered and detached, wooden framing was rotted, and evidence of vagrants entering the structure had continued. The owner listed on the records, Edelmira Perez Meneses, did not appear at the hearing.
The board voted 5‑0 to declare the accessory structure a public nuisance and ordered demolition within 30 days. Staff will proceed with abatement and follow standard notification and enforcement procedures.
