The commission’s chair, Marissa Bowen, called the item after the applicant described the existing canopy’s wind damage and presented the bank’s new standardized canopy and ATM design, including concrete anchor details intended to reduce future wind damage.
The applicant, Forrest Page of Agency Architects, said the canopy and ATM are KeyBank’s current standard and described structural improvements: "It's a big thick pour of concrete that goes underground that it's bolted to so the wind does not damage these anymore." Page also showed prefabricated shop drawings and explained that the canopy includes illuminated internal lighting and signage on the support legs.
Commissioners asked for a site rendering; the applicant showed a site view and noted the new canopy would occupy the same location as the former structure. Technical advisor Joe Guillermo and Kevin Jimenez of the Department of Development assisted with locating the ATM on site imagery. The commission did not request additional material samples or changes to the design.
After discussion, a board member made a motion to approve the application; Michael Marrero seconded. Chair Bowen called for the vote; the motion passed with all voices in favor.
The applicant was told to coordinate with the building department on permit requirements prior to installation.
