The commission approved a series of SSBG and CDBG agreements totaling $610,940 in program awards and a separate $250,000 outdoor recreation grant for trail resurfacing, and completed a site-release related to EV charging stations at the Davis Conference Center.
On July 1 the Davis County Commission approved multiple grant agreements presented by Community and Economic Development Director Kent Anderson. The approved agreements include Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) awards and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) contracts for nonprofits, school-district programming and infrastructure.
Approved items included SSBG agreements: $30,000 to Open Doors for street outreach, $26,690 to Grandview for grief counseling for youth and families, and $38,500 to Lantern House for homeless shelter services. CDBG awards included $250,000 to South Davis Water District for a water-line replacement project in Bountiful; $107,065 to Davis School District for a summer camp program for low- and moderate-income incoming kindergarten students; $28,685 to Open Doors for a landlord-tenant mediation project; and $130,000 to Habitat for Humanity for the Davis County Critical Home Repair Program.
The commission also approved a site-owner release with the Utah Department of Transportation related to the six electric vehicle superchargers at the Davis Conference Center (no county receivable noted) and authorized receipt of a $250,000 award from the Utah Outdoor Recreation Grant program to resurface Davis trails (grant period through Sept. 30, 2027). In all, the agreements approved at the meeting represent $860,940 in payable/receivable grant amounts and infrastructure awards described to the board.
Anderson presented the items as annual contracts beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026 for most SSBG/CDBG items; the outdoor recreation grant begins May 5, 2025 and runs through Sept. 30, 2027. The board moved to approve items 8 through 16 and passed them by voice vote.
