Davis County Commission Chair Loreen Kamalu announced on July 1 that the county had received the resignation notice of Comptroller Curtis Koch, whose last day will be July 15, 2025. Lee Doug Stone will assume the responsibilities of the comptroller until an interim replacement is appointed by the county's legislative body under state law.
Kamalu said a notice of the vacancy was provided to the Davis County Republican Party on June 19, 2025. The party will hold a special convention on July 15 at 7 p.m. at Layton Christian Academy to hear applicants and select a recommendation for the Board of Commissioners to consider.
The county records packet distributed with the meeting lists the timeline announced by Kamalu: Koch's service ends July 15, Stone will assume duties immediately thereafter, the party convention is scheduled for 7 p.m. the same day, and the party's delegates will nominate a candidate for the commission to appoint. The appointee would serve the remainder of Koch's term; that seat is also up in the regular 2026 election cycle.
No formal board vote was required for the announcement; commissioners did not take further action at the July 1 meeting.
