Bellevue council approves bonds and multiple contracts to fund water main, public works site and services

The Bellevue City Council on July 1 approved an ordinance authorizing up to $5.1 million in general obligation bonds to finance the next phase of a water main extension (Ordinance No. 4,187) and approved a package of related contracts and property purchases to support utility and city operations.

Council members also voted to authorize a construction agreement with Metropolitan Utilities District for the Phase B water main for service to NC3 and the Bellevue Bay Indoor Water Park, approve two land purchases for a planned public works facility, sign a three-year interlocal for Sarpy County IT services, and finalize a lease for the Bellevue Police North site. The council voted to suspend the three‑reading rule and hold a public hearing on the bond ordinance the same night; no members of the public spoke during the hearing.

Why it matters: The bond and contract approvals fund an infrastructure project intended to extend water service and support new and existing developments, while the land purchases and lease establish sites and operations for the city's public works and police functions. The interlocal for IT services covers city technology support through Sept. 30, 2028.
