Raleigh County meetings to move temporarily to Family and Child Resource Center for building window project

Raleigh County announced June 30 that Commission meetings, Planning Board and Board of Zoning Appeals hearings will temporarily move to the Family and Child Resource Center (FCRC) at 2101 Claflin Road while Courthouse Plaza East undergoes a window replacement project.
Vivian Leyva, public information officer, told the board the move will begin July 3 and that Public Works will post wayfinding signage. She said meetings will continue to be livestreamed on YouTube and that the county will provide information on the website and civic clerk platform. Parking for commissioners and staff will be arranged at the nearby EMS station and the health department clinic parking lot; the health department requested reserving the upper parking lot for pregnant mothers and families visiting maternal and child health services.
County staff said they will coordinate packing and moving immediately after the meeting, work with the historical museum to preserve wall items and provide staff with access to their offices when safe and practical during renovation. The county estimated the project would be completed by February 2026, subject to contractor schedules and potential delays.
Public information staff will publish maps and wayfinding directions to the new meeting location and will add signage and parking instructions to reduce confusion for attendees.
