Department says special-education bus routes outsourced; affected drivers asked to submit resumes for other roles

Senators asked whether the drivers would be laid off; the department said it met with affected employees and requested resumes for internal placement. “They were asked to present their resume so that we could see where they may qualify for additional positions within the department,” the official said.
The committee did not take formal action but sought clarity on how outsourcing would affect route continuity and personnel. The department suggested it would try to place affected staff where possible while finalizing contract terms with the vendor.
