The Carmel-by-the-Sea City Council approved a consent agenda that included nine routine items and pulled one item for separate consideration.
By roll call vote the council approved consent items 1–5 and 7–10. The items approved included the second reading and adoption of an ordinance to amend the Carmel Municipal Code to adopt the 2025 fire hazard severity zone map for the city, designation of voting delegates to the 2025 League of California Cities conference, acceptance of donations from Carmel Cares, authorization for the city administrator to execute an agreement to purchase two new police vehicles (funded in the current budget), an amendment to council appointments to the Monterey Regional Taxi Authority board of directors, and a change order (number 6) to on-call tree services contracts listed at a combined amount of $0 for the remainder of fiscal 2024–25.
The council specifically excluded item 6 — revisions to the city policy on council meetings, agenda packets, minutes and agenda distribution — from the consent motion so it could be discussed separately.
The motion to approve the balance of the consent agenda passed on roll call; the clerk recorded the vote as affirmative and the council moved on to discuss item 6.
Votes at a glance: the consolidated consent approval was adopted by the council by roll call with the clerk recording the motion as carried (recorded in the meeting transcript as “Yes. Motion carries.”). The council did not record individual yes/no votes for each consent sub-item in the transcript excerpt.
