Parks and recreation staff told the Indian Trail Town Council the town’s recent Family Fun Day drew a large crowd, generated vendor and sponsorship revenue and required significant staff and volunteer support.
Parks staff reported they “saw over 13,000 people” during the event and an estimated $19,000 in revenue from vendor fees and sponsorships. The event hosted approximately 70 market vendors, more than 14 food trucks, carnival rides, entertainment acts and shuttle service from local schools. Staff described using eight charter buses to shuttle attendees from school parking lots, logging roughly 1,000 miles of shuttle travel for the day.
Organizers said safety planning included doubling off-duty EMT coverage, a med unit from Union EMS and on-site ambulances; staff reported very few heat-related medical incidents despite extreme temperatures. Parks staff said staging the event required substantial preparation and that part-time staff hours and volunteer contributions were essential; staff estimated combined event staffing at more than 2,60 hours of work (transcript phrasing), and said partnerships with volunteers and first responders were critical.
Council members praised staff and noted the event’s role in bringing residents and nonresidents to town. One council member observed that rides and food sales made the day especially valuable for vendors. Parks staff said planning for the 2026 event has already begun and tentatively scheduled the next Family Fun Day for June 6, 2026.
The council did not take formal action on the event report; staff asked the council to continue support, including attendance and budget backing for future large events.
