Mayor's Youth Council students honored at City Hall for service and committee work

An HCV intern, identified by the broadcast as Alana Fanoi, met students who described activities such as GatorServe day of service on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and neighborhood work at Grama Park. One student said, “I'm on the environmental justice committee, and I'm the chairman of it. You know, my favorite part of the mayor's youth council this year was probably the GatorServe day of service on Martin Luther King Junior Day.” Another student said work on the Educational Equity and Environmental Justice committees included service in local parks.
A city division manager in the Office of Neighborhood Engagement and the Mayor's Anti-Gang Office praised the students and said the role allows collaboration with youth and adults across the community.
The broadcast described the recognition as showcasing the council’s collaborative work with city youth ambassadors and noted students’ committee-led initiatives during the year.
