Forrest (title not read aloud) briefed the council on the code amendment, saying the changes clarify department names and formalize communications as a separate department to acknowledge the broader scope of outreach and public engagement work. “The work they do goes far beyond maintaining social media and drafting public communications,” Forrest said, and council supported elevating the unit to department status.
Council suspended the rule to read the ordinance by title only, conducted the vote and adopted the ordinance updating section 1.9.08 of chapter 9, title 1 of the McCall City Code. Council then voted to confirm the city manager’s appointment of Aaron Grieves, who has been the communications manager and will serve as the department head.
The ordinance takes effect per the language in the adopted text and the city will implement the revised organizational titles and department assignments in its administrative materials. Council members welcomed the change and congratulated Grieves on the confirmation.
