Council renews lighting and landscape district assessments for 16 benefit zones

The Cathedral City Council held a short public hearing June 25 and adopted two resolutions to finalize the Lighting and Landscape District (LLD) budget for fiscal year 2025–26.
Financial Services Director Kevin Biersack presented the final engineer’s report and the proposed levy, saying the district supports maintenance across 16 benefit zones. Biersack said reserves available in several zones reduced several levies and that the overall levy would be just under $350,000 to cover maintenance of 3,800 parcels (approximately 4,100 equivalent dwelling units). There were no public comments during the hearing.
Following a motion by Mayor Pro Tem Gregory and a second by Council member Lamb, the council adopted the resolutions ordering the levy and approving the final engineer’s report; a roll call recorded unanimous support.
