Council approves preapproved project-management contract list for IT projects

The Los Angeles City Council voted 13-0 Friday to approve a preapproved contract list of firms that can be used for project management services on Information Technology Agency (ITA) projects.
Jesse Wuaros, general manager of ITA, told the council that 23 vendors had applied to the Request for Proposals (RFP) and a committee including CAO and ITA staff evaluated submissions and recommended 14 firms for prequalification. The preapproved list creates an expedited mechanism to retain project managers and does not obligate the city to use all named firms.
Councilmember Joel Holden questioned the number and geographic distribution of vendors and asked about local-preference and affirmative-action factors. Wuaros said the RFP was open to firms from anywhere but the selection process included minority-business criteria and an evaluation committee. Holden requested follow-up with his office to discuss local hiring and contract-dollar flows.
The council approved the item on the consent roll with a recorded vote of 13 ayes; the action authorizes the ITA to use the preapproved list when procuring project management services but does not itself award individual task orders or contracts.
