Springfield board to post its most recent offer as public speakers press for fair teacher contract

Board President Lord announced at the June 25 Springfield School District Board of School Directors meeting that the board will post the school board's most recent contract offer to the Springfield Education Association online and will hold off on further public discussion until negotiations resume in July.

The announcement came as a string of public commenters urged the board to reach a swift, "fair and equitable" agreement with teachers, arguing that investing in teacher pay is central to maintaining the district's academic performance and services. "It is time to put money into our greatest asset, which is our teachers," said Christine Bridal, who identified herself as a Springfield resident, taxpayer, parent of two recent graduates and an educator.
