Colonel Patrick Kolesiak delivered his final monthly military-advisor report to the Papillion La Vista Community Schools Board of Education and received a plaque and public thanks from the board.
Colonel Kolesiak told the board he had "really enjoyed my time" working with the district and praised the community's partnership with Offutt Air Force Base. He highlighted the district's participation in the Purple Star initiative, saying that having every school designated a Purple Star school "is already paying dividends" and helps incoming military families choose where to settle.
Kolesiak announced he will be replaced as the military advisor by Colonel Mark Russell, and that future meetings will include the base force support squadron commander, Lieutenant Colonel Joe Anderson, who has children in the district and will provide the monthly report going forward. The board presented a plaque thanking the colonel "for his dedicated service and commitment to the vital partnership between Offutt Air Force Base and the Board of Education."
