Board conducts parent involvement and wellness policy hearings; no public comment

Dr. Steele, a district staff member, explained that the parent involvement hearing is conducted pursuant to board policy that requires annual review and provides the public an opportunity to comment before the board affirms or amends the policy as needed under state statute. After the opportunity for comment, the board closed the parent-involvement hearing at 6:02 p.m.
Dr. Steele also introduced the wellness-policy hearing, noting it was required by board policy 5602 and by the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004; the wellness committee had discussed food program reviews, wellness goals, and programming and planned to monitor goals in the coming year. With no public comment, the board closed the wellness hearing at 6:03 p.m.
No formal action was taken during either hearing; both were informational and provided statutorily required public-comment opportunities.
