Staff says 20–25% utility rate increase under consideration; full presentation set for July 8

Village of Jackson staff told the Board of Public Works on June 24 that the conventional rate case study for utility rates remains in progress and that, based on current work with financial advisors Ehlers, the estimated range for a rate increase could be between 20% and 25% starting at the beginning of next year.
Staff said the memo provided to the committee lacks a precise estimated rate increase and that completing the rate study has been more laborious than anticipated; staff and the village's financial advisors are continuing analysis to account for asset additions and adjustments to 2023–24 accounting entries. The committee was advised that Ehlers will present a full, in-depth review at the July 8 meeting and that members of the committee are encouraged to attend.
No formal action was taken other than scheduling the Ehlers presentation on the July 8 agenda.
