The Board of Trustees voted Tuesday to update airport governance documents, adopting Ordinance O‑7, Series 2025, and approving Resolution 46, Series 2025, to adopt minimum standards for commercial aeronautical activity at the Buena Vista Airport.
Dan Cordray, chair of the airport advisory board, told trustees the updates replace older documents (from 2008 and 2010) and respond to higher levels of commercial activity — including more jet traffic and new commercial development on land brought under airport control. Cordray said the advisory board’s 18‑month review focused on creating a flexible process that preserves safe, orderly operations while keeping the town eligible for state and federal funding.
Trustees discussed insurance and self-service fueling. A trustee asked whether a business performing self‑service fueling would have to show vehicle insurance; Cordray said facility users would be required to carry insurance that names the town as an additional insured and that staff would coordinate with insurance experts for any novel arrangements.
The board approved the ordinance and resolution by voice vote. Trustees thanked airport advisory board members and staff for the long review. Town staff said the new documents are intended to be “living” — updated as needs change — and to help the airport remain in compliance with FAA assurances required for federal funding.
Motions and votes recorded at the meeting show the board permitted both the ordinance and the companion resolution. Trustees later heard airport staff report that a pre‑bid meeting for a North Apron project is scheduled and that FAA funding coordination is ongoing.
