The Saint Helena City Council took several formal votes during its June 24 meeting, including adoption of the consent calendar, appointment of committee members and the planning-fee resolution noted above. Key outcomes:
- Consent calendar: The council adopted the consent calendar by roll call vote (unanimous). Several routine items were approved in one vote; the mayor noted receipt of a staff-employee association letter that will prompt future collaboration.
- Planning application fees (agenda item 10.1): The council approved a resolution adopting a new schedule of planning application fees with staff-recommended amendments and an effective date of Sept. 1, 2025 (unanimous roll call vote).
- Utility-bill appeal (agenda item 11.2): The council voted unanimously to grant a partial credit in the Dean Properties LLC appeal, approving a credit equal to 50% of the disputed $4,673.86 charge; staff will apply the credit to the account.
- Appointments and commissions (agenda item 11.4): The mayor ppointed and the council confirmed appointments: Jeff Farmer and John Zimmerman to the Active Transportation & Sustainability Committee; Julian Casey, Jonathan Feruda and Juana Navarro to the Library Board of Trustees; and Julie Jananen to the Parks & Recreation Commission (unanimous roll call vote).
Other items were continued for additional documentation or follow-up: the proposed ordinance on delinquent water and sewer penalties was discussed and staff directed to return with revised language reflecting a 45-day penalty trigger; the Porchfest event proposal was discussed and the council asked organizers to return with insurance, traffic-control, trash/recycling and budget details for the July 22 meeting.
