Commission approves amendment making ambulance seller responsible for initial repair costs

The Dickinson City Commission on June 24 approved an amendment to an asset purchase agreement between the City of Dickinson and Dickinson Air Ambulance Service covering a 2019 Ford E-450 Horton ambulance that was involved in an accident.
City Administrator Dossinger told the commission the original asset purchase agreement was entered Sept. 17, 2024, and that the ambulance sustained front-end damage after colliding with a light pole in the T. Rex Mall parking lot. "Specific asset, in that purchase agreement was a 2019 Ford e 4 50 Horton ambulance. Unfortunately, that ambulance was involved in an accident and repairs will need to be completed, prior to closing," Dossinger said.
The amendment specifies that Dickinson Air Ambulance Service will be responsible for costs associated with repairing the damaged ambulance. An estimate listed in the agreement for repair costs is $17,760; Dossinger said if costs exceed that amount, Dickinson Air Ambulance Service would be responsible for the excess. Commissioners asked whether repairs were being performed locally; Chief Presnell said they were being done at Red Rock Ford. Chief Presnell also described the damage as front-end and noted parts availability had caused timing issues.
City Attorney Huenco reviewed the amendment before the meeting, according to Dossinger. Commissioners moved to approve the amendment; Commissioner Frederick moved, Commissioner Bair seconded, and the motion passed by unanimous recorded voice vote.
Commissioners recorded no additional conditions in the meeting. Officials said warranty coverage on repairs would likely be provided by the repair vendor, Red Rock Ford, though the commission did not receive or attach a vendor warranty document during the meeting.
