Commissioners honor two long-serving county employees with resolutions and retirement recognitions

DENTON, Texas — The Denton County Commissioners Court on Tuesday adopted resolutions recognizing two longtime county employees: Robert (Bobby) Akins of the Facilities Department, who is retiring after 30 years as a master electrician, and Deputy Constable Jeff Inman, who is retiring after 32 years in county law enforcement.
The court read resolutions honoring Akins and Inman and invited family and colleagues to the podium. Commissioners praised Akins' workmanship, character and mentorship during a 30-year county career that began on June 5, 1995. The court read language noting Akins' achievement of Master Electrician status and his service across county facilities.
"Robert, you have been such a great employee for Denton County," Commissioner Edmondson said while presenting the resolution. Commissioners and colleagues described Akins' patience, technical skill and influence on coworkers; Akins spoke about the importance of skilled trades and encouraged young people to consider trade careers.
The court then read and adopted a second resolution for Deputy Constable Jeff Inman, who has worked in county law enforcement since March 23, 1993, including service on a U.S. Marshals task force. Commissioners noted his long service and said Inman will continue in a new role with Denton ISD as a school marshal. "It's been an honor to serve Denton County for 32 years," Inman said. The court voted unanimously to adopt both resolutions and held brief remarks and photo opportunities with family and co-workers.
Both resolutions were moved and seconded on the record and recorded as passing unanimously. The court's action recognized the retirees publicly and extended best wishes for their retirements.
Commissioners used the opportunity to highlight the value of experienced county staff and to encourage interest in skilled trades and law-enforcement careers among younger residents.
