Virgin council reviews general-plan survey results, asks council-level review before planning commission adoption

The Virgin Town Council briefly reviewed the results of a general-plan survey at its June 11 work meeting and asked staff to make the plan available for the council to review before the planning commission advances a recommended draft.
Council members said they prefer the council to look for substantive changes and provide direction to the planning commission rather than wait for the planning commission to recommend a plan and then return it to the council with requested amendments. Darlene, who staff identified as the planning contact at the meeting, agreed to send the general-plan materials to staff for upload to SharePoint.
The review was scheduled as an informational item at the work meeting; the council said it will discuss any suggested changes at the upcoming meetings and then send a single suggested draft to the planning commission to avoid repeat cycles of revision. Staff said the survey summary with graphs is already in the meeting folder and that the full draft general plan will be uploaded to SharePoint for council members who do not currently have it.
The item was not debated in depth at the work meeting and will return for further consideration at the council meeting next week, which will include public hearings on the budget and the five-year capital improvement plan.
