OremFest draws record crowds; car show fundraiser raises $9,000 for American Legion

Events Manager Kenice Whitaker and Events Coordinator Cindy Bailey highlighted key numbers: the car show hosted over 250 cars (a 133 percent increase from the prior year), the pool party drew about 1,500 attendees, pickleball entries rose (from 19 teams to 32), Sports Fest activity increased, and overall park and carnival attendance nearly doubled on Friday. The presentation noted strong survey engagement (about 900 respondents) that staff will use to refine next year’s program.
Organizers discussed new elements introduced this year, including a drone show paired with a traditional fireworks display; staff said the drone element had technical delays but was well received and that both fireworks and drones are likely to be considered for future events. The car show, produced in partnership with Walker Sanderson, raised $9,000.62 for the American Legion. An American Legion representative described planned uses for the funds, including an emergency veteran assistance fund and equipment storage needs.
Councilmembers thanked staff and volunteers for the large event effort and noted positive community feedback. The council did not take formal action on the presentation; staff said they will consider budget and scheduling implications for future drone and fireworks programming.
