For 910 Worth Street, Parrish said the complaint notice was filed Oct. 23, 2023; an order to repair or demolish was issued Oct. 24, 2023 with a compliance deadline of Nov. 24, 2023, and the property owner later told staff he intended to sell the property but no repairs were made. Council members viewed photographs showing porch collapse and failing flooring systems. Motions to adopt each demolition ordinance were made and seconded; both passed by voice vote.
Board terms and appointments: Council realigned ABC board terms so that Ashley Tillery’s term now expires Nov. 15, 2027, and set the current vacant ABC seat to expire Nov. 15, 2026. The council confirmed William Armfield to the ABC board (term effective immediately, expiring 11/15/2026). The council also confirmed Alan Johnson to the Parks and Recreation Commission and appointed Matthew Stafford to the Planning & Zoning Commission (term effective July 1, expiring 6/30/2028). Each appointment was approved by voice vote.
Staff pay and contract changes: Council approved pay adjustments for three senior staff members. The city attorney received a 3% merit increase and a 9% market-adjustment increase as presented; the city clerk received a 3% merit increase and a 3% market-adjustment increase; and the city manager received a 3% merit increase along with a contract amendment addressing modifications to the manager’s 401(k). Each item was approved by voice vote; council directed staff to implement the changes.
Honors and proclamations: The council read a proclamation declaring June 2025 as National Homeownership Month and adopted an honorary resolution to support America250 NC’s 2026 commemoration and Guilford County’s America250 committee coordinated by Visit Greensboro. Sarah Lance of Visit Greensboro introduced the commemoration committee; the resolution expresses the city’s support and encourages local participation.
