The City Council held a public hearing on the city’s final budget amendments for fiscal year 2024–25 and adopted the ordinance authorizing the changes.
Brandon (finance/budget staff) reviewed the package of amendments. The largest elements include additional appropriations for donation and grant receipts (many tied to OremFest sponsorships and nonprofit gifts), interest earnings added to construction funds for water/sewer/storm bond projects (including remaining 2021 bond and a 2024 sales‑tax revenue bond for public safety facilities), and appropriation of transportation and special‑revenue fund reserves for the 1600 North landscaping project. Brandon said accumulated interest and remaining construction balances account for much of the capital adjustments.
Other adjustments included replacement accounting for a wrecked police vehicle (insurance/self‑insurance fund transfer into the general fund), appropriations for senior center chairs using recycled‑metal proceeds, and a small increase in the administrative fee tied to higher property tax collections at the University Place CDA. Brandon summarized the net effect of the amendments as an additional $2,375,000 in revenues and related appropriations across funds.
The council opened and closed the public hearing with no public testimony, then voted to adopt the ordinance amending the fiscal‑year budget. The ordinance passed on the council vote.
