Hurst honors Frescas Lemonade Stand, highlights Lemonade Day youth entrepreneurship

City officials on Tuesday recognized participants in Lemonade Day and presented a certificate to the Martinez familys Frescas Lemonade Stand for donating part of its proceeds to the nonprofit 6 Stones.
A city representative said City First participated in the event and described Lemonade Day as a youth entrepreneurship and economic-development opportunity that teaches children to plan, work and manage money. The presentation highlighted that multiple local businesses served as sponsor locations for children without storefronts.
Councilmember Tracey Colbert read a certificate naming Frescas Lemonade Stand the citys "2025 best lemonade stand award" and noted the stands contribution to 6 Stones. Several children who had participated described what they learned at the lemonade stands: one said her favorite item to sell was lemon cookies; another said participating taught saving and counting money.
City staff and council thanked the Martinez family for their participation and for donating part of their proceeds to local school-supply programs through 6 Stones. The presentation included a short video about Lemonade Day that was shown to the council and audience.
