Mayor Mark A. Nash read a proclamation June 23 declaring July 2025 as National Park and Recreation Month in Edmond, highlighting the city’s 35 parks and recreation venues, the Charles D. Lamb Nature Preserve, Arcadia Lake, Kicking Bird Golf, Festival Marketplace, Barnett Field, Ted Anderson Splash Fields, Pelican Bay Aquatic Center and the Edmond Senior Center.
Following the proclamation, parks staff introduced key personnel to the council: newly listed staff included the director of golf, marketing and events coordinator Emily Harmon, recreation manager Leanna Holman, design/program manager Frank Hale, events staff Blaze Van Oostal, recreation and event coordinator Amanda Thomas and park maintenance supervisor Zach Pady. Staff reported the city submitted operational and acreage data to the National Park and Recreation Association and said the database shows Edmond’s parks system delivers a high level of service efficiently at a low per-capita cost.
Mayor Nash and council members thanked staff and the public for supporting parks and recreation in the city.
