The Edmond City Council unanimously approved (5-0) a resolution to create a fund structure and budget reform committee that will study the city’s fund structure and budget process and return recommendations to council by December.
Council and staff described the task force as the city’s finance committee plus two additional qualified citizens (selected by application), with the finance director and city treasurer serving as liaisons. The committee will cover both city funds and the public-works trust side of the organization to promote clearer public communication about where money is allocated.
City staff said the application process will open and the council will appoint citizens with relevant backgrounds; officials said they are seeking candidates with accounting, budgeting or government finance experience. The intent is for the committee to complete its work and dissolve after delivering recommendations.
The committee structure passed twice in the meeting record: first during the Edmond Public Works Authority agenda (Resolution No. 4-25) and then as a city-council resolution (Resolution No. 27-25). Both actions passed by recorded unanimous votes.
Staff will post the application on the city website and provide outreach about qualifications and timelines; councilmembers asked staff to ensure community meetings and direct outreach to nearby neighborhoods when applicable.
