City staff outlines Anna's 2025-26 strategic work plan and progress on key projects

Assistant City Manager Taylor Law presented an update on the City of Anna's 2025-26 strategic work plan, reviewing progress across seven outcome areas and highlighting infrastructure, public-safety and civic programs under way.

Law reminded the council the strategic framework was developed in late 2022, the vision statement added in August 2024, and council reviewed the plan in January 2025. "In a fast growing community like Anna, it's essential that we ensure that the city's actions remain aligned with the community's long term vision," Law said.

Key highlights Law noted included: - Adoption of an updated future land use plan (March 25) and ongoing master-thoroughfare work slated for a fall update. - Water and sewer modeling funding approved in December, with planned updates to come to council within the next two months. - Construction of the library plaza and interurban pedestrian corridor under way; the inner-urban pedestrian corridor design is on schedule. - Activation of the Hurricane Creek wastewater treatment plant and acceptance of phase 1 of a utility-relocation project. - A pilot drainage-assistance program with Northpoint HOA and in-vehicle pavement-condition inspection equipment being installed for real-time assessments.

Law also reviewed community programs: a new volunteer-management system, Neighbor Academy cohort activity, a successful Impact Expo with 35 nonprofits, library card registrations topping 500 and an employee recognition program.

She said staff will continue to report accomplishments at fiscal year end and that council will review the framework, governance guide and vision during a July 25 council retreat.
