Daniel Sosa addressed the Civil Rights, Equity, Immigration, Aging and Disability Committee during the public-comment period on June 20 and said he witnessed use of crowd-control munitions and mounted police at a recent No Kings protest.
“My name is Daniel Sosa. I'd like to speak on general public comment,” Sosa said, then described the events: “What happened on Saturday during the No Kings protest and in previous days, the LAPD and the LA Sheriff's Department used tear gas, rubber bullets, flashbang grenades, and trampled peaceful protesters with horses. This has not even been addressed, acknowledged by the mayor, or as far as I know, anybody else, at the city. In fact, the mayor is actually gaslighting the public by saying this is what a peaceful protest looks like. The behavior I witnessed from LAPD was disgraceful.”
Sosa urged the committee to address the incident; the committee did not record any formal response or action on the public comment during the meeting.
