Committee files 2023–24 municipal language-access report, highlights translation capacity and vendor-list plan

A City Council committee reviewed and voted to file the municipal language-access annual report for fiscal year 2023–24 after staff summarized department-level progress on translation, interpretation and outreach.

Staff presenters described program elements including identification of "vital documents," a vendor-list solicitation to streamline interpretation and translation procurement, department reporting on interpretation services, training for staff on plain-language and translation practices, and emergency-language communications.
