Local nonprofit Rafa Farm introduces equine therapy services, thanks county for grant

Brianna Michalski, founder and volunteer executive director of Rafa Farm, told the fiscal court on June 17 that the three-year-old Oldham County nonprofit provides equine-assisted psychotherapy and horticultural therapy, partners with organizations in Jefferson and Trimble counties and operates programming at community gardens and partner facilities.
Michalski said Rafa Farm plans to develop property on North Highway 53 into a retreat and therapy location and to expand partnerships with local retirement centers and community centers. She thanked the fiscal court for a recent $500 grant that the organization used to sponsor therapy slots for low-income residents and said the nonprofit hopes to reintroduce quarterly women’s wellness days and expand group therapy offerings next year.
The court acknowledged the organization and said it would monitor further development plans and potential collaboration with county programs.
