Youth Commission reports increased participation, teen‑center usage and outreach plans

The Paso Robles Youth Commission presented its annual update to the City Council on June 17, recapping the past year's events and outlining goals for 2025–26.
Vice Chair Cole Lahama and fellow commissioner Amelia Peterson described outreach and programs: the commission hosted a SCORP focus group on outdoor recreation planning, two teen nights (including a free autumn "Pumpkin Palooza" for local junior high and high school students), the Teen Center (averaging more than 60 youth per day), and participation in the city's Martin Luther King Day celebration. Youth commissioners also assisted at a May 10 summer‑program sign‑up event and reported a record 25 new applications to join the commission.
Looking forward, commissioners said they plan to be more involved with the city's homeless services manager and to increase Teen Center usage through additional teen nights and support services.
Council members thanked the commission and praised the recruitment numbers and programming for young people.
