Centennial SD 28J chair to step down; board schedules July election, swearing-in and retreat, clarifies proxy rules

"I will say that this will be my last meeting as chair. I've term limits," Chair Slawski said. Board members agreed to hold officer elections at the July meeting and to swear in a new board member at that session. The board also listed routine annual designations it intends to address, including designation of bank depositories, asbestos and hazard/emergency response contacts, official newspaper, and legal counsel.
Members tentatively set a daytime board retreat for July 30 to work on internal issues and planning for the school year. A board member noted they could not attend the July 9 meeting and asked whether nominations or votes could be handled by proxy; meeting participants clarified that voting by proxy is not allowed but that members may call in to participate and vote. The record shows board members discussed texting or calling when votes occur to permit remote participation in voice votes.
The board adjourned at 9:55 p.m. after the evening's business.
