Superintendent Dr. Janakone updated the board on summer programs and the fall calendar at the June 17 meeting.
The district’s extended‑school‑year (ESY) program will run from July 7 through Aug. 7, with more than 60 students enrolled this summer. The board approved two ESY positions to support separate program campuses; administration said if the program returns to a single campus in the future, one of the positions may no longer be needed. Board discussion confirmed the additional staff were approved because enrollment increased and the program is operating on two campuses this year.
The superintendent reminded families that fall sports at the high school will begin in early August and that all student‑athletes must have an updated physical to participate from the first day of practice. District staff will report for in‑service on Aug. 25; students will start the school year on Tuesday, Sept. 2. The district also noted that all 12‑month staff will work a modified Monday–Thursday schedule through the summer, with hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
The superintendent extended summer well wishes to students, families and 10‑month staff and said the district looks forward to reconvening staff in late August.
