Students described the symbolism in several panels: mountains to represent struggle and resilience, broken chains signaling breaking cycles of incarceration, microphones signifying music as solace, storm clouds and stars for struggle and hope, and a street-name motif representing identity. Students said they learned painting techniques, color mixing and teamwork and reported the mural helped build community and confidence.
Ending: The board applauded the students and staff; the superintendent said the work would be posted on the district's social-media channels.
