Staff explained the resolution updates last year's policy to match state code windows (for example, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. or midnight depending on the date under state law) rather than Toquerville's prior 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. window. Fire and public-works representatives had reviewed the proposed hours and raised no objection in principle.
Council discussed whether the city should staff a water tender or pre-wet dry areas at municipal parks during fireworks events. Staff said the fire district would treat fireworks response as business as usual; the city will check with public works about providing a water truck or other presence at City Park on major dates such as the July 4 celebration.
Council voted to adopt the fireworks resolution; members voted in favor.
