Polk County commissioners approved an expedited land-use change Tuesday that will permit an additional residential structure on a 2.28-acre parcel north of Lake Hancock Road, east of U.S. 98.
Staff described the parcel as part of a larger business park center mapped under the comprehensive plan; the applicant sought to change the future land-use designation from Business Park Center to Residential Low in order to add a second home. The Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval and county staff recommended adoption.
No members of the public spoke at the expedited hearing. A motion to approve was made and seconded and carried by voice vote.
The approval allows the property owner to add a second dwelling consistent with the Residential Low designation; staff noted the site already abuts existing Residential Low districts to the east and south.
