City staff and volunteers reported to the council June 17 that Southlake won the Fit City Challenge for the third consecutive year and presented participation statistics and awards.
Parks & Recreation staff outlined changes for 2025, including adding wellness activities to the Gojo app, moving the challenge to the month of May, and new communications elements such as a Mission Impossible–themed video and a bingo card to encourage participation. Staff said Team Southlake finished first with 113 points; the City of Keller finished second with 102 points. Citywide participation across all teams was reported at 482 participants and more than 10,000 logged activities (an average of roughly 42 activities per participant). Team Southlake reported about 190 participants and nearly 4,000 hours of exercise recorded. Staff highlighted staff participation across departments and noted special badges and awards for top individuals. First-place overall winner Jamie Wooldridge received prizes including two months’ access to Champions Club and pickleball lessons, and staff recognized first-, second- and third-place finishers.
Mayor and council members congratulated the Leadership Southlake class and city staff for coordinating the event and suggested ideas to expand participation in future years.
