Council gives final reading to annex Goodland Parkway roadway to city

The Grand Prairie City Council approved final reading Monday to annex the Goodland Parkway roadway corridor into the city.
Deputy City Attorney Tiffany Bull told council the annexation covers the roadway area shown in the council packet and is intended so the city can own and maintain Goodland Parkway, a new connector that will provide relief for the Prairie Ridge neighborhood by adding an exit off Highway 287. Bull said the annexed area is the portion of the roadway being constructed for that purpose.
No members of the public spoke on the item during the public hearing. Council Member Curt Johnson moved to approve item 30 as presented by staff; Mayor Pro Tem Clemson seconded. The motion passed (ayes recorded; no opposition was raised on the record).
The annexation takes effect on final passage as provided by state law and allows the city to maintain and operate the new roadway when construction is complete.
