The Budget and Finance Committee approved most consent calendar items that were presented for today’s meeting, with the committee voting to adopt items 2–12, 14–17, 20–26 and 28 as amended and to hold item 13 for a separate vote.
The committee chair said the group would “approve 2 to 17, 9 to 26 and 28” on consent; when the roll call was taken the secretary recorded “4 in favor” for the bulk motion with one member absent. Item 13 was taken separately and passed 3–1.
The consent bundle included a mix of departmental reports, authorizations to pursue grants, and program recommendations summarized by staff. Committee instructions attached to some items included directions for transportation-related grants (items 3 and 4), authorization language for the city transit program to apply for air-quality electrification grants (item 5), and acceptance of various grants and reports from departments including animal services and emergency management (items 6, 15, 16 and others).
Votes at a glance - Items 2–12, 14–17, 20–26 and 28: Approved by roll call, 4–0 (one member absent). The chair recorded the motion and the roll call as approving the items “as amended” where amendments were described on the floor. - Item 13: Approved after separate roll call, 3–1 (Councilmember Hernández recorded a “no” vote). The chair announced the 3–1 tally and declared the item approved.
Committee members who voted were recorded by the secretary during the roll calls; the chair named the items and asked the secretary to call the roll. The committee’s actions were procedural approvals and did not adopt new policy beyond the instructions and amendments recorded with each item.
The committee moved from the open session into closed session following the completion of the open-agenda votes.
The committee’s approvals will be forwarded to the next step in the city’s legislative process as required by existing rules for placing items on the council docket.
