TAC approves FY26 paving list, flags Buckner Road as a complex project

The Transportation Advisory Committee on May 19 voted to approve the FY26 paving candidate list and asked Public Works to present the list to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen after the city's July budget approval.
Public Works Director Tyler Scroggins summarized the annual pavement survey and the candidate streets, which included full-neighborhood proposals (Autumn Ridge) and targeted portions of longer roads that do not meet the city's poor-condition threshold in every block. Scroggins said Buckner Road will be particularly challenging because it lacks shoulders and will require shoulder construction and ditch relocation for drainage.
Other streets on the list include Campbell Station (portion), Jackson Jones, Denning Lane, Creekwood Heights, Sutherland Drive, Anderson Acres, a block of Meadowbrook, Whispering Woods and Morning Dove Lane. Scroggins said the city will use remaining fiscal-year funds to bridge urgent spots and avoid spending the entire paving budget in a single neighborhood.
A motion to approve the list passed with a second and a unanimous voice vote.
The committee asked for a staff copy of the paving list so members could respond to constituent inquiries; staff agreed to provide it.
Next steps: After the city's budget is approved in July, staff will take the paving list to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen for final approval and bidding.
