District shows construction progress for Birkman Valley Elementary and middle school addition, posts project pages with drone imagery

Superintendent Larsen and district technology staff showed the board the district's construction project web pages and provided an update on work at two active capital projects.

Chuck Henson, director of academic technology, demonstrated the district-maintained project pages that centralize architectural plans, project timelines, explanatory videos and drone photos. Henson said the pages are hosted on the district website under the facilities section and that staff update construction photos about every two weeks.

On the Brandon Valley middle school addition site, Henson said earthworks are underway, foundations are being placed and a parking-lot excavation is in progress; he also pointed to a pad that staff identified as housing for construction equipment. On Birkman Valley Elementary, Henson displayed architectural plans, construction photos showing curbs and classroom walls being framed, the community room and gym shell, and a flyover video of the site. Superintendent Larsen said the transportation parking lot work is included in the middle school project budget.

Superintendent Larsen and Henson noted that the construction schedule leaves roughly six to eight weeks of work before students return in August and reminded the board the district posts timelines and photos on the project pages to keep families and the public informed. The meeting packet and the online project pages are the district's detailed public records for design plans and progress photos.

The board did not take formal action on the presentation; staff presented the pages and answered questions from the board.
