Assembly Banking and Finance Committee adopts rules for new session

The Assembly Banking and Finance Committee adopted its committee rules by a 7-0 vote at the start of its hearing. Chair Avelina Valencia said the rules had been distributed to committee offices and approved by the chief clerk’s office and noted they are largely the same as last year’s rules.
Valencia asked for a motion to adopt the rules; Blanca Rubio moved and Dixon seconded. The committee clerk called the roll and the motion carried 7-0. Chair Valencia said the committee would leave the roll open for absent members. The rules will govern procedures for witnesses, public comment and orderly conduct during hearings.
No substantive policy was decided as part of the rules adoption; members proceeded to the bills on the agenda after the vote.
