Commissioners discussed funding: a proposed $20,000 contribution from the district attorney (DSO), $11,107.53 from reserve jail CIP funds, $20,000 from the sheriff’s seizure account, and the remaining $46,142.47 from the county’s CIP balance.
A motion to award the contract with that funding plan was made and seconded. Commissioners treated the item as an urgent need and approved the award by voice vote. County staff said they would notify the vendor and coordinate with HMN (H and M) for the feasibility portion that will work alongside the needs assessment.
Sheriff’s office leaders said the assessment is intended to be thorough and to avoid quick fixes; the goal is an accurate inventory of needs and options for long‑term solutions. Commissioners directed staff to expedite the CIP action so the work can start without waiting for the next quarterly meeting.
