Makoto Hoshi, president of Cyanidec America, said the company donated 10 uninterruptible power supply units to Torrance to help keep city systems running during emergencies, particularly for fire and police communications.
Hoshi said the contribution was intended to support first responders and critical communications infrastructure, and expressed appreciation for the city's support during the company's 30 years in the area. "This is my favorite part of my job. I love going out to visit businesses," he said.
Cyanidec America has operated in Torrance for three decades and recently expanded its space, Hoshi said. He described the visit as an opportunity "to thank them for their donation" and to "surface more of our local companies so that we can create more opportunities for our residents and our visitors."
Hoshi, who identified himself as president of Cyanidec America and said he was visiting from Japan, called Torrance "a very great city" and said he was honored to be there.
