Sean Stinnett was sworn in as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates during a brief ceremony led by Speaker Pro Tem Dana Stein.
Speaker Pro Tem Dana Stein administered the oath and opened the event, saying, "Thank you very much for joining us for the swearing in of Sean Stinnett to be the next delegate for the state of Maryland." After repeating the oath, Stinnett offered brief remarks of thanks and community emphasis.
The oath included pledges to support the Constitution of the United States and "bear true allegiance to the state of Maryland and support the Constitution and laws thereof," language read aloud during the ceremony. Stinnett told attendees the win reflected the work of local supporters and families, thanking the Democratic State Central Committee of the "40 first" and several named individuals for backing his campaign. He said the result followed an unsuccessful run about eight years earlier and credited lessons learned from that experience.
Stinnett said he would serve on the Judiciary Committee, stating, "I just got word that I'll be in the judiciary committee." He also thanked family members, campaign volunteers and community groups, concluding, "This win is for us," and that he was "ready to start working with my 40 first delegation." No vote or other formal council action was recorded during the ceremony; the primary action was the administration of the oath of office.
The ceremony did not include a formal announcement of an effective term start date beyond the administration of the oath. Stinnett indicated he will begin committee work and constituent outreach in the coming weeks.
